2026 Mother Earth is Burning

A Climate Justice Kiki Ball
Summit for Action in partnership with Soleil Felicity, Dash Felicity, Grounded Voces and Ecoinclusive is pleased to invite you to the 3rd annual Mother Earth is Burning Kiki Ball. This event brings together Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), LGBTQ+, and climate action communities with the aim of spreading knowledge and information about the climate crisis, its disproportionate effect on those who are marginalized, and what impacted communities are doing to combat environmental injustice. The climate movement can only thrive when the power of BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities is elevated. Join us in creating a space of love, celebration, and empowerment while learning about how the climate crisis affects your community and how you can actively contribute to the movement.
The Ballroom scene, originating in New York City in the early 1980s, owes much of its inception and early development to the Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ communities. This cultural movement was a direct response to the systemic inequalities, discrimination, and the lack of safe spaces these communities faced. Ballroom provided a platform for self-expression, fierce competition, and artistry, often born out of necessity. Today, this scene has expanded into a global phenomenon, representing a unique fusion of dance, fashion, and performance that celebrates Black LGBTQ+ culture, resilience, and creativity. We pay homage to this rich history, emphasizing the Black and Latinx LGBTQ+ leaders whose contributions laid the foundation for this dynamic subculture.

Beginner’s - Glacier Melt
2024 was the hottest year ever recorded globally. Rising temperatures are causing glaciers to melt faster than snowfall can replace them. Glacial melt contributes to sea level rise, increases coastal flooding, and threatens freshwater supplies for millions of people who rely on glacier-fed rivers.
To reflect the urgency of this rapidly changing landscape, bring it in an ALL WHITE effect, including shoes. Think ice, snow, frost, and the fragile beauty of glaciers. Serve with a look that is clean, cohesive, and glacially stunning

Realness - Ski Resort Realness
Skiing and snow sports have long been associated with wealth and exclusivity, often creating racial and economic barriers. At the same time, climate change is reducing snowpack and shortening winter seasons, threatening the future of winter sports. Organizations like Protect Our Winters advocate for climate action to preserve snow-based recreation.
Tonight, show us that we don’t just belong on the slopes,  we own them. Bring it in full Ski Resort Realness. Whether luxury après-ski, ski instructor, snowboard pro, or mountain mogul, your look should be believable, polished, and ready for the mountains.

Bizarre, Speculative Biology

Life on Earth has always evolved in response to environmental change. As climate conditions shift due to global warming, some species are already adapting  and others may not survive. Imagine a future shaped by rising temperatures, extreme weather, ocean acidification, or drought.
Bring it OVAH Bizarre by debuting a never-before-seen species that evolved to survive a climate-changed Earth. Show us its adaptations. Does it have heat-resistant skin? Amphibious lungs? Solar-powered features? Make it strange, imaginative, and biologically intentional.

Face - Fresh Face
The global cosmetics industry produces an estimated 120 billion units of packaging each year, much of it plastic that is not recycled. From production to disposal, beauty products contribute significantly to waste and carbon emissions.
Tonight, prove that beauty needs no filter. Bring it makeup-free with a Fresh Face that is moisturized, groomed, and glowing. Confidence is key. You must also carry a small sign featuring a factual statement about the environmental impact of the beauty industry. Let your face and your facts speak volumes.

Kiki Labels - The Great Outdoors
Outdoor fashion brands like Patagonia and The North Face are staples of adventure culture. As climate change impacts forests, rivers, and mountains, protecting these spaces becomes even more critical.
Bring it in a look that is both fashionable and functional. You should be ready for night camping, hiking a fourteener, skiing, or river rafting, but make it KUNT.

Performance - Smog
According to global air quality assessments, a vast majority of the world’s population breathes air that exceeds World Health Organization pollution guidelines. Smog,  a mixture of pollutants like ground-level ozone and fine particulate matter, increases the risk of asthma, heart disease, stroke, and premature death, especially among children and elders.
Demonstrate the suffocating and deadly nature of air pollution in your performance. Bring it in a mixture of black, gray, and white (including shoes). Your performance should embody restriction, struggle, toxicity, or resistance,  but make it dynamic and undeniable.

Sex Appeal
Artificial intelligence systems require massive data centers, which consume significant amounts of electricity and water for cooling. As AI expands, so does its environmental footprint. And despite its sophistication, AI-generated images and designs often contain subtle flaws, extra fingers, warped features, or uncanny distortions.
Bring it as the ultimate AI sex siren: polished, hyper-perfect, digitally divine. But something must be slightly off. A deliberate glitch. A surreal imperfection. The fantasy is high-tech seduction with an environmental twist. Serve futuristic allure with one calculated flaw. Must be 18+ in order to walk. Must be PG 13.

Runway - Coral Reefs
Coral reefs are among the most biodiverse ecosystems on Earth, supporting approximately 25% of all marine species. Rising ocean temperatures cause coral bleaching, while pollution and ocean acidification increase disease and mortality. The loss of reefs threatens marine life, coastal protection, and food systems.
Bring it in an effect inspired by coral reefs or the species that depend on them. Think branching coral, angelfish, sea turtles, sea urchins, reef sharks, or bioluminescent sea life. Your effect should capture the color, texture, and movement of underwater ecosystems. Show us aquatic excellence with purpose.
