Building a bridge between Summit for Action annual convenings, this community of practice is open to any alums of the Summit for Action series. Together, we support each other, share problems of practice as well as progress, and brainstorm ideas/strategies to address all levels of change – individual, interpersonal, institutional, and systemic – needed for political, socioeconomic, and ecological transformation.

- Learn, relearn, and apply the knowledge gleaned from the summit sessions and collaborations;
- Co-create opportunities to address problems of practice as well as amplify progress;
- Weave our efforts towards all levels of change – individual, interpersonal, institutional, and systemic; and
- Work together in solidarity and mutuality to build just relationships among participants.
2023-2024 Cohort Updates
This year, our community has expanded to nearly 30 participants. Members met for a kick-off meeting in March to identify cohort goals and engagement opportunities. We have introduced a stipend program and expanded our engagement opportunities, including:
The inaugural cohort consisted of 16 participants representing a variety of sectors including land management agencies, consultants, policy advocates, community organizers, elected officials, academic institutions, non-profit managers, researchers, parks and recreation professionals, zoo professionals, and environmental educators. Members met for two at-large meetings before moving into learning pods for the remainder of the cycle. Project-focused engagement was supplemented with community offerings to help forge trusting relationships among individuals and their associated organizations.
Building on the Summit’s 2022 theme, the 1991 Environmental Justice Principles, the CoP reflected, refined, and reimagined these principles as they apply to our present moment and near future. Through collaboration and strategic guidance, this cohort developed two invaluable tools that will be presented to the community during the 2023 Summit for Action.
These deliverables include the Environmental Justice Resource Database and the Colorado Indigenous Action & Resource Guide.
In addition to these collective offerings to the larger Summit for Action community, CoP participants also connected through a variety of community offerings including:
